We encougage all YBN members to attend this session. I have taken this session and it was great in helping me communicate better to my team and clients.
In the evening: Back by popular demand is our 2nd Annual Meet the Underwriter Night from
6-8pm. This is open to all IBANB Member Young brokers under 40 and company underwriters.
The reception will be at the Delta Beausejour in Moncton. It will be a stand up cocktail style reception with hors d’oeuvres served. Dress will be office/business to make it easy for you to come right from your office to the reception if you so choose.

I have a question for you....
It is that time of year where we ask our members: What can you bring to YBN?
I am looking for those of you who are interested in being on the YBN Committee for 2010-2011. Responsibilities include organizing events such as curling, educational seminars and delivering reports to the IBANB Board with the goings on of YBN.
I would love for YBN to really put itself out there in the upcoming year...community involvement, IBANB involvement and let everyone know what we are about, both members and non members alike.
If you have any questions, or are interested in being on the committe, please contact me at colwelll@wilson.nb.ca and I will be hppy to answer any questions you may have.
Have a wonderful summer!

Ottawa - Hill Day/National YBN Meeting
WOW! That about sums up my first trip to Ottawa for Hill Day. The point of Hill Day is to maintain communication with the MPs across Canada about where we stand on insurance and the banks role in the insurance industry. Since this was my first time there I thought it would be a great idea to share my experiences with you.
Day 1: Arrived in Ottawa at 8am local time after a flight that was less to be desired, but I arrived and that is what matters. After checking into the hotel I took it easy as my meetings began at noon.
The meetings were essentially a preparation of the next days event. We were briefed on the issues and the rules for Parliament. We were placed in our provincial groups and I was fortunate enough to be placed in a group with two men who really knew their stuff. Stephen and Bob certainly taught me alot about Ottawa, the Bank Act and the industry in general. Thank you to them!
Day 2: Hill Day. What a day it was! We had breakfast on Parliament Hill, heard from Alexandra Mendes, MP as she discussed Bill C-457 (http://openparliament.ca/bills/2144/) and then we were off in our groups to meet with various MPs from across Canada to discuss insurance.
And what a response we received! All in all, it went very well. One comment we received what how impressed the MPs were to see so many young people getting involved.
This was a long day with an early start but it was worth it.
Day 3: National YBN Meeting. That morning I met all of the YBN Chairs from across Canada and we had a great discussion about our successes, struggles and where we want to go. It was great to meet such great people. We will certainly be keeping in touch with each other.
So again, WOW! The 3 days was a bit of a whirlwind but it was worth it. The education I received could not have been received unless I was involved and I encourage all of you to do the same.
If anyone has questions about Hill Day or YBN please let me know. If you even have such an opportunity you have to take it. You will not regret it one bit....I have not.

Looking for ideas
Good day everyone!
I am looking for some suggestions of an event (educational or otherwise) for YBN. It would most likely be in the late summer/early fall as summer is fast approaching, so you know what that means....short-staffed and busier times in the office. So what a great way to be rewarded!
If anyone has any suggestions or requests please let me know and I will look into all of them.
Thank you!
Lisa

Another successful year
I am pleased to say we had another successful year with our curling bonspeil. I am sure everyone learned something about curling (even our score keeper). Everyone who attended looks like they had a great time both at the rink and when we went out afterwards.
And Moncton Headstart was certainly pleased to fill their vehicles with all 4200 diapers we were able to donate.
A big THANK YOU goes out to those who sponsored the event. Thank you for your donations. Also thank you to those who helped organize this event. This includes: Adele, Andrew, Tabatha and Tammy.
Congratulations to the winners of the prized trophy. Photos will follow soon!!
